So this morning my Argentinian mate Max, and I set of on another adventure to find the stairs. Although this time the no trespassing rule was implemented a bit more than with my other hike, with the guards at the bottom on the stairs so we couldn’t get up there. So we left disappointed, muddy and mosquito bitten.
Instead we just cruised along the palm tree high ways, listening to reggae beats, to some crystal water beaches of Hawaii and chilled out there. Pictures from Malapu’u beach will be up on my insta @travelandotherdrugs
After an amazing beach nap we went to Manoa Falls, I must say I felt like I was in a magic Forrest walking to the water fall it was so green that my eyes found it difficult to adjust!
Now I’m just chilling in bed, packing my bag to move on to the next hostel closer to Waikiki.
Thank you for reading!
So last night I met this Argentinian guy who offered to take me to the northern beaches.
This morning we began the journey to the Billabong Pipeline Masters comp to watch the first heat, but first we decided to climb the stairway to heaven, which is an epic set of stairs/hike you can do(pic on insta), unfortunately the GPS took us to the wrong place so we gave up on that idea and continued our journey to the Surfing Comp. *shaka*
When we go there the vibe was awesome, and we got to see lots of top surfers. We just chilled there for a bit watching some epic waves and surfing! To settle the debate whether Kelly Slater had wrinkles we went to the meet and greet area, where I managed to get a cheeky piccy with him.
After the comp we went to Waimea beach, as we got there the guys were digging a trough to join up the ocean and the river, the river would then run down to the beach and they would surf it. This took about them about 4 hours I think when we got there they were about an hour in if not more, I think around 6:30 the water started to flow faster and faster, widening the space the water was flowing through. It was pretty epic, the guys from Lume Cube were there filming a promo with Jamie O’brien, so I’m guessing that’s the reason for them doing that. As the flow of the river became stronger the edges fell into the river so once you felt your heels sink in, that meant it was time to move back or you could slide in with the sand.
Not all is bad, one snoring actually now two people are snoring in the dorm but at least accommodation is now sorted. I’ve decided to stay in the far away, cheap hostel and then drive to the surf comp with some homie I met today!! Semi having fomo about not staying up north but everything seems to be booked out and I just want to stop stressing about accom.
Today the girls and I went snorkeling to Hanauma bay! And then I went on this rebellious hike because it was all blocked off and said no trespassing but then I came across all these locals using the hike as exercise haha.
I might edit this later as its super lame but I’m too tired atm…spent too long talking to some surfer babe 🙂
(Photos to come)
For those that thought you could never travel back into the past, well you can, I certainly did this morning I started the 8th of December again landing in Hawaii an hour late and sure to say the rest of the day didn’t go as planned. I’m not too sure what the universe is trying to tell me but so far this trip has not been going to as planned. At least it is very spontaneous.
So some background info..in Hawaii I only booked 3/6 nights, thinking I’d just test out the cheap hostel and then move closer if I needed to. So the cheap hostel happens to be way further then I thought and I decided that I should move. Sadly, there is a surfing comp and a marathon this weekend so everything is booked out, I walked from one hostel in Waikiki to another for an hour, facing rejection at each reception. Even my shitty hostel is booked out!
So here I am day 1 of my adventure on the island of Hawaii and once again I’m f**ked.
On a happier note as most of you who know me know that I believe that everything happens for a reason and the positive out come of this situation is I met this cool gal named Rach, she is doing the marathon this Sunday! And tomorrow we are going snorkeling.
I’m so sad but this wifi won’t let me upload photos but I will upload some from tomorrow on insta:)
